and for cleanness.
The cover pictures are loaded from external bitmaps. JPEG and embedded art are not supported. The pictures will only be drawn on the main display. There is no resizing but it is possible to specify the WPS bitmap size in the bitmap names (e.g. cover.100x100.bmp).
The bitmaps are stored in the main buffer and read directly from there. Currently, duplicate bitmaps will simply be present several times in the buffer, but this will be improved.
To enable for a target, #define HAVE_ALBUMART in its config file.
For more information, see the wiki page: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/AlbumArt.

buffering.c and buffering.h implement the new buffering API. playback.c is translated to that API. For more information about the whole concept, see http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/MetadataOnBuffer.
There should be no major visible changes, but most existing bugs remain (though fixing them should be easier now that playback.c is a bit less complex) and there probably will be new ones. Please report any problem!
Next step is to adapt cuesheet support, which is partly disabled here, and of course fix as much bugs as possible.

fixed-point and malloc-less WMA decoder (based on the ffmpeg WMA decoder from early 2006, and also building on the work started by Paul Jones). The codec itself and the ASF parsing code were written by me, inspired by the ASF parser in libasf. Current performance is around 400% realtime on gigabeat, 100% realtime on PP and 20% realtime on Coldfire.

When a WPS file is loaded, it is parsed to an array of tokens, which allows more efficient displaying. More info on the tracker entry : FS #6862.
The parsing code is completely independant and is all in wps_parser.c. The displaying part stays in gwps-common.c.
Debugging code is provided (with the right ifdefs) and is disabled by default.
Overall, the code should be easier to read and maintain. Adding new WPS tags is made quite trivial.

Everytime an audio file is loaded, a cue file with the same name is searched for. A setting
allows to disable this (default is off). Cuesheet files can also be viewed in the file browser.

those settings accidently).
* Add set_int_ex() which is the same as set_int() but adds a param which
is a callback that returns the voice ID to talk for the selected value
* Change the "pause on headphone unplug" to use meaningful strings in
the config instead of numbers, this setting will be reset.
* saves ~500bytes on the rec build :D

simulator (but with a dummy background image for now) and the beginnings of the target-specific firmare code. Port is temporarily using a 2bpp LCD buffer format - the AV300 has a 320x240 colour (YCbCr-based) LCD which will need a new framebuffer format and drawing routines, but the LCD is also capable of various paletted bitmap modes, one of which has an identical framebuffer format to the greyscale ipods. Buttons (and hence the button mappings) are identical to the Archos Recorder, with the exception that the PLAY button on the Recorder is replaced by pressing the joystick on the AV300 (which I call BUTTON_SELECT). The initial port will begin by being strictly HWCODEC, but will evolve to be a hybrid SWCODEC/HWCODEC platform - it has a MAS3587F but also a main CPU (54MHz arm7tdmi plus DSP) capable of software decoding of at least some formats.

SWCODEC. Supprort for samplerates changing in playback (just goes with the recording part inseparably). Samplerates to all encoders. Encoders can be configured individually on a menu specific to the encoder in the recording menu. File creation is delayed until flush time to reduce spinups when splitting. Misc: statusbar icons for numbers are individual digits to display any number. Audio buffer was rearranged to maximize memory available to recording and properly reinitialized when trashed. ColdFire PCM stuff moved to target tree to avoid a complicated mess when adding samplerate switching. Some needed API changes and to neaten up growing gap between hardware and software codecs.

that caused warnings on the H3x0. We now draw the USB logo using the normal lcd_bitmap() and lcd_remote_bitmap() functions instead of the screens API, which doesn't handle the differing bitmaps types well. Remove apps/gui/logo.[ch] as they are now longer used.

Gordon, extended my me. The principle of the patch is that the three sliders contain the native ranges (currently 0..31, 0..63, 0..31), and the equivalent RGB888 colour is displayed underneath. The config block (and global_settings struct) contain the native value for the fg/bg colours (either RGB565 or RGB565SWAPPED), but the text .cfg files contain the RGB888 value written as 6 hex digits.
